Adding Roles and Features

This section explains how to add roles and features. For Windows Server 2008, the Server Manager window appears.

  1. Go to Administrative Tools/ Server Manager.
  2. Select the Roles on left navigation pane. Click Add Roles.
  3. Validate Web Server (IIS) is installed as a Role.
  4. Enable Application Server. By default, the following items are enabled:
    • .NET Framework 3.5.1 Feature
    • Windows Process Activation Service
    Note: This step may require additional services to be installed with these roles and features.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select the Features option; verify HTTP Activation under .NET Framework 3.5.1 Feature is enabled. If not installed, click Add Features to enable the HTTP Activation.
  7. Click Next, then Install.
